SS RAFFAELLO ship

The
ocean liner ship Raffaello was one of the most beautiful
ships both on the inside and the outside to ever
serve on any route. She provided perfect
service from the very beginning, with her luxurious
and very Italian restaurants. Originally, the Raffaello was
faster than her sister. However, when the
Michelangelo's screws and transmission were changed
during her first winter overhaul in January 1966,
Michelangelo overtook her sister on that front.
The
SS Raffaello was 22 tons larger than the
Michelangelo. Both ships were among the most
advanced of their time. They featured retractable
stabilizer wings, highly modernized engineering
panels, and many other advantages. The funnels, in
particular, were especially designed to keep smoke
and soot from the rear decks. The design was highly
effective, and it is a testament to their design
that most funnels in modern passenger ships are
built along similar principles.
The SS Raffaello
ship's interior was in the Art Deco style often
associated with liners. Raffaello's interiors were
highly futuristic, more distinctive, but more sterile
interiors than the Michelangelo.
The times when the
sister ships were simultaneously travelling on the
transatlantic route were very exciting for the
passengers. The two beauties would see each other on the sea, passing
each other with combined speed of over 50 knots.
The powerful waves created by a ship shook the
other one. The captains had them pass each other
as near as was safely possible to get the most from
such occasions.

Don't be fooled by some
cheap Raffaello models out there. They are full of
errors. The positions of the two funnels are wrong. The
light bulbs are ridiculously placed on the deck like
mushroom. Water slides are missing. Unsightly pale
yellow deck color. Wrong flag. There are more but it
would cost us time to write. If you want to know more,
just send us an email.
"Hello Frank, yes it's a
beautiful model, my compliments; just one remark, I
would have liked seeing the Italian merchant marine flag
flying instead of a naked mast… George"
