A half hull model is
a wooden model featuring only one half of a boat.
They were originally made as a tool by
shipyards. There were several purposes, both technical
and for marketing and communication.
The art of making half hull boat models
is as old as ship building itself.
Nowadays, half hulls were no longer used
for ship design but for nautical art in homes, offices,
and nautical clubs. Half hulls do not take up a lot of
space, making them perfect for displaying nautical art
and décor when you lack space for a large ship model.
They also make great nautical gifts.
