FREEDOM of the SEAS
cruise ship model
A copy of this model was
commissioned by Dr. Julius R. Nasso when
the Freedom of the Seas was still
the largest cruise ship. Dr. Nasso--a
film producer-- gifted the model to his friend who was a senior officer of the Freedom of the Seas.
Freedom of the Seas kept
the title of the largest passenger ships ever built
until the completion of the Oasis of the Seas
in 2009. She took the honor
from Cunard's Queen Mary 2.
She can accommodate over 4,300 passengers and 1,300
crew on fifteen passenger decks.
This Royal
Caribbean International masterpiece of naval
engineering features the first-ever onboard surf
park at sea; cantilevered whirlpools that extend 12
feet beyond the sides of the ship; the H20 Zone
waterpark, complete with interactive sculpture
fountains, ground geysers and a cascading waterfall;
largest rock-climbing wall, with eleven routes and a
central spire. Freedom of the Seas also
features the FlowRider (an onboard wave generator
for surfing), a miniature golf course and a
basketball court. Other items include an ice
skating rink, a casino, a Johnny Rockets, Wi-Fi
capabilities and cell phone connectivity throughout
the ship, and flat panel televisions in all
staterooms.

capabilities and connectivity for cell phones will
also be available, as well as flat-screen TVs in
every stateroom.
This primarily wood Freedom
of the Seas
model features:
-
Scratch-built from official plans
-
Plank-on-frame,
hollow hull
construction. This construction method gives
accurate hulls, as artisans create the frame of the
hull exactly like in drawings. The solid hull
method, on the other hand, employs most guesswork on
the degree of curvature.
Note that although this model looks good, it was
built quite some time ago and its quality was not up
to our current standard (2020). You brand new model
will be considerably better, like the
Brilliance of the Seas.
