PACIFIC PRINCESS
The Love Boat

In 1977, Princess Cruises agreed to have their cruise ships featured in the television romantic sitcom The Love Boat  The ship featured in nearly every episode of the series was the Pacific Princess.  The term "Love Boat" was heavily used by Princess Cruises in their marketing, and became synonymous with the Pacific Princess. The success of the up-beat television show, which remained on the air until 1986, is largely credited with the increase in popularity of cruise ship travel in North America.

The Love Boat is an American romantic comedy-drama television series that originally aired on ABC from September 24, 1977 to May 24, 1986. In addition, three TV movies aired before the regular series premiered and four specials and a TV movie aired after the series ended. The series was set on the cruise ship Pacific Princess, and revolved around the ship's captain Merrill Stubing (played by Gavin MacLeod) and a handful of his crew, with passengers played by guest actors for each episode, having romantic, dramatic and humorous adventures.

Our primarily wood Pacific Princess (The Love Boat) model is built based on very detailed plans. Thus it does not contain obvious errors like the other models on the Internet. Our model is also grand and lively, not 'dead'  like a plastic toy, nor a boring decorative accessory. Our model features:

- Windows are cutouts, and there's a glass-like glaze reflective material behind, just like that of the real ship.

- Windows and portholes are uniform and aligned. Only large  photos can really show this so please be careful when you look.

- 'Water' in pools. Ladders in pools.

- Correct propellers: three-blade, not four.

- Correct doors which have gray frame.

Plank-on-frame hull. This construction method gives accurate hulls, as artisans create the frame of the hull exactly like in drawings. The solid hull method, on the other hand, employs most guesswork on the degree of curvature.

Dear Model Ship Master team,

I have received the Pacific Princess model that you built for me, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I commend all of you on the diligent way that you faithfully recreated this ship from scratch. Thank you for the many hours, days and weeks that you spent working on this model on my behalf. Your fine effort is very much appreciated!

I was 8 years old when "The Love Boat" debuted in 1977. From the very first time that I watched the show, the design of the Pacific Princess captivated me. It looked beautiful from every angle. I never had the chance to take a cruise on the Pacific Princess, but now I have my own "Pacific Princess" to admire for a lifetime.

Again, allow me to say "thank you!"

Best regards and God bless,
